CrossCats takes place in the world known as Blonkchain. The world primarily consists of the blue ocean with islands scattered throughout. Most of the population live in these assorted islands located around the globe. It’s a multi-species world, but its main inhabitants are cats of various colours.
The majority of the world is controlled by Ethereum, a consortium of organisations led by the (infamous) Foundation and its leader Vee Bee. Those who refuse to bow down to Vee Bee’s rule live in the foggy outskirts of the world, forming their own alliances and governments.
Ethereum is a federation of nations, consisting of the largest continent Mainnet and 20+ of its satellite states known as Rollups. Ethereum’s network of island nations are all connected together through a network of hyper-speed tubes.
Although publicly Ethereum is considered a fair organisation that upholds justice by protecting civilians and seeks to create a peaceful and equal world, they are in reality, at their core, a corrupt and oppressive organisation, particularly through the application of absolute justice, their suppression of academia and research of history.
Ethereum is de facto ruled by its Intelligencia, the intellectual class that controls the media and picks the narratives that the mass population consumes. Officially, however, The Foundation rules Ethereum, originally an academic institution that is led by its leader and founder Vee Bee.
While Ethereum is the most technologically-advanced and prosperous nation in the world of Blonkchain, it has recently experienced stagnation in its economy, exacerbated by high inflation, low interest rates, less and less builders in the working class, and an aging population.
Bitcoin Island is a small tropical island with a mountain, rain forest, and beach— located far away from Ethereum in the North Pole of Blonkchain. Since the North Pole of Blonkchain is shrouded in fog and clouds, it’s very very hard for anyone to enter or leave Bitcoin Island.
